The journalist died at the age of 42 was hit by a train in FairviewPennsylvania on Monday, Dec. 11, according to the Erie County Coroner's Office, The Erie Times-News reported.
However, new details about this tragedy have been released.
The journalist decided to take his own life
The cause of death of Emily Matson was decided to commit suicide by the Erie County Coroner's Office, The Erie Times-News, The New York Post and TMZ reported.
Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook told the New York Post on Tuesday, December 12, that the anchor took her own life and that the evidence of her death was suicide “indisputable”.
People magazine's website asked authorities for more information about the case, but “the Erie County coroner did not respond.”
The death of the 42-year-old owner of Erie News Now was confirmed by television network Lilly Broadcasting in a statement released hours after the tragedy.
Emily Matson died last Monday, December 11th, after being hit by a train.

” Emily was a shining light in our newsroomdelivering messages with the passion and love he had for the Erie community and northwestern Pennsylvania,” they emphasized.
Matson was part of the station's news team for two decades and was last on the air last Friday evening, December 8th.
