Fatal ski accident in the Laurentians: A teenager falls from a ski lift –

The teenager who died Friday after falling from a ski lift at a ski resort in the Laurentians may have been suffering from illness, the Sûreté du Québec suspects.

This is at least one of the theories currently being put forward by police as they continue their investigation.

No criminal element was identified in this case.

Investigators spent much of the night at the Sommet Morin Heights ski center trying to determine what happened.

Emergency services were called around 10pm after a 15-year-old boy fell from a ski lift.

“Station staff and paramedics carried out resuscitation maneuvers on site. He was then taken to a hospital in the region where he was pronounced dead,” said Camille Savoie, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The tragedy occurred when the fourth student at the Sacré-Cœur secondary school in Rosemère was taking part in a school trip.

Safety bar

The exact causes of this sad story remain a mystery to those responsible for the mountain, who say they are cooperating fully with the authorities.

You should know that ski lifts are equipped with a safety bar designed to prevent such events.

“It is very difficult to explain what could have happened,” says Christian Dufour, marketing director of Les Sommets, in an interview with Le Journal.

“This is an extremely sad situation and our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to the family,” he added.

The station received approval from the Sûreté du Québec to reopen its facilities on Saturday morning.

intervention

On the part of the Sacré-Cœur externate, the management expressed their sadness in a message addressed to the parents.

“The loss of this young person touches each of us deeply. “All our thoughts are with the family, loved ones and the entire ESC community,” it says in a letter.

The college will establish an intervention team to support the student community and staff.
