Fatal ski accident in the Laurentians: A teenager falls from a ski lift –

A teenager died on Friday after falling from a ski lift at a ski resort in the Laurentians.

At around 10pm, emergency services were called to a ski resort in Morin-Heights where a 15-year-old boy fell from a ski lift.

“Station staff and paramedics carried out resuscitation maneuvers on site. He was then taken to a hospital in the region where he was pronounced dead,” said Camille Savoie, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

Investigators and a forensic identification team went to the scene to clarify the causes and circumstances of this event.

“All hypotheses are being investigated, but prima facie there is no criminal element,” Ms Savoie said.

School trip

The death of the 4th secondary school student at the Sacré-Coeur Externat (ESC) in Rosemère occurred during the school trip.

In a message to parents a few hours after the incident, the school administration expressed its sadness.

“The loss of this young person touches each of us deeply. “All of our thoughts are with the family, loved ones and the entire ESC community,” it says in this message.

The college will establish an intervention team to support the student community and staff.
