It was shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday evening when SQ officers were called to the scene of an accident involving a 15-year-old boy.

According to the first information gathered, the young man “fell from a ski lift” during a school trip, said a police spokesman, Camille Savoie.

She stated that resuscitation maneuvers were initially carried out on site by station staff and paramedics. The victim was then taken to a hospital where authorities declared him dead.

Multiple investigators as well as forensic identification technicians were dispatched to the scene. Investigations were still ongoing on Saturday.

“All hypotheses are currently being investigated, but at first glance there is no criminal element in it,” Ms. Savoie continued. The possibility of a tragic accident is therefore the most plausible at this time, but investigators will attempt to clarify the exact causes and circumstances of this event.
