Presenter Fausto Silva, known as Faustão, underwent surgery this Sunday afternoon (27) for a heart transplant. He has been hospitalized at the Israelita Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo since August 5.
“The procedure was successfully performed and Fausto Silva remains in the intensive care unit as the next few hours are important to monitor the organ’s adaptation and rejection control,” the medical bulletin reads.
According to the hospital, the São Paulo State Transplantation Center informed the unit in the early hours of today that “the evaluation of the compatibility of the organ, taking into account blood group B, has started”.
The procedure began this afternoon and lasted about two and a half hours, according to the medical bulletin signed by cardiologist Fernando Bacal; by cardiovascular surgeon Fábio Antônio Gaiotto; and by the Medical Director and Hospital Service at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, Miguel Cendoroglo Neto.
Faustão was added to the transplant queue, which has been tracked since 2020, after his heart failure worsened.
