Fees: Former British ministers welcomed by activists

Former British government officials have sparked outrage over their willingness to advise a company invented by activists for thousands of pounds.

As seen in a video released by the group Led by Donkeys, former health secretary Matt Hancock demanded a daily fee of £10,000. Former Economy Minister Kwasi Kwarteng demanded at least US$10,000 (9,280 euros) in daily allowances.

The opposition Labor Party called the behavior “disgraceful”. Conservative MPs are using their “taxpayer funded offices” to “line their pockets”.

Second jobs not banned

British MPs are not prohibited from having a second job and there are no salary caps. But the fact that politicians want to generate high revenues while their constituents suffer from rising energy and food costs has drawn criticism.

Led by donkeys invented the supposedly interested company from South Korea. A South Korean journalist posing as the vice president for international relations has video chatted with several politicians about whether they could serve as advisers.

Influential MP Graham Brady, who, according to the clip, was asking for an annual fee of £60,000, told Sky News he had complied with parliamentary guidelines.
