Fiorella Mannoia takes sides again openly against violence against women namely through a concrete signal. That is, he changed the lyrics of his manifesto song: “What Women Don’t Say.” The occasion was the concert last night in Bologna with the pianist Danilo Rea.
“It is a song that is very close to my heart,” explains Fiorella Mannoia to Repubblica, “written by Enrico Ruggeri and Luigi Schiavone and that I brought with me to Sanremo back in 1987. But I decided to change the ending because it was right: I always said “We’ll say yes to you again”, But that’s not correct. I sang it and thought, “This isn’t obvious, why do they take it for granted that we have to say yes?” It could be a maybe or a no. AND If a woman says “no” in any dress, in any situation, in any condition, then it is “no.”“.
“Unfortunately, as we read the news, we realize that violence against women seems to be something for which there is no solution. In fact, it seems that things are getting worse and today the Internet spreads more and more news about violence and that gives us the dimension of a phenomenon – underlines the singer-songwriter: “The spark of this war is always the same motive, namely a Man who doesn’t accept a woman’s will“.
Hence the decision to change the text “What women don’t say”: “To change the mentality, in schools we should start talking to primary school children who are more receptive, to teach mutual respect, towards women, towards those who are different, in general, to teach human respect.”
