Police found five fetuses in a house in Washington, DC. Authorities drove to an address in the east of the city on Wednesday to investigate an indication of potentially biologically hazardous material, police said Friday in Washington. During the investigation, the police made the discovery. Unborn babies were taken in for examination.
Police initially did not provide further details or background information. Local television station WUSA9 reported that an anti-abortion activist lived in the house. A police spokesperson told the broadcaster that it appeared the fetuses were aborted under current Washington regulations, according to the report.
An anti-abortion group, to which the alleged suspect belongs, wrote on Twitter that a member of the group voluntarily informed police so that previously “discovered” aborted fetuses would be forensically examined. It was about late pregnancy abortions. The group argued that it wanted to draw attention to alleged violations of abortion laws.
