A WWE veteran is expected to take part in the competition, according to a new report.

Former five-time Intercontinental Champion and 11-time World Champion Edge appears to be headed to AEW as signs mount that this is the case.

In 2020, Edge came out of retirement for the first time in nearly nine years after being forced to retire from in-ring competition following WrestleMania 27. The Rated R superstar’s passion and determination to end his career on his own terms saw him return to the company for another run.

Nearly four years later, the Rated R superstar had his last booked match against Sheamus on an episode of SmackDown in Toronto. According to WON, people in WWE believe the 49-year-old star is destined for AEW after his current contract expires.

“The people at WWE have mentioned that they hope Edge goes to AEW.”

Edge’s current contract expires at the end of September 2023. He recently made it clear that he has no issues with the company and revealed that he already has another contract waiting for him should he wish to return.
