Florence + The Machine announce new album ‘Dance Fever’

Florence + The Machine have announced the details of their new album and revealed the cover art in an Instagram post.

The upcoming LP will be the band’s first album since “High As Hope”, their fourth album, released in June 2018.

Posting on her personal Instagram account, Florence Welch shared the cover of the new record, which suggests that it will be called “Dance Fever”.

The cover shows a musician standing in front of a golden moon and dark branches, above her a butterfly and two large pink flowers in her hair. The work was created by renowned photographer and filmmaker Autumn de Wilde.

“A fairy tale in 14 songs,” Welch captioned the post, adding that the record will be available for pre-order from 8:00 GMT, though she didn’t specify when. Further details on “Dance Fever”, including a release date and track listing, have yet to be announced.

Florence + The Machine have shared two new songs over the past few weeks – first with “King” and earlier this week (March 7) with “Heaven Is Here”. Regarding the latter, Welch explained that it was the first song she wrote in isolation. “I wanted to do something monstrous,” she wrote. “And this cry of joy, rage and grief was the first thing that burst out.”

She continued, “Because the dance studios also closed down, I dreamed of doing choreography with them one day. So this is one of the first pieces of music that I created specifically for modern dance.”

During the release of The King, the star shared that she began to consider herself an artist in the context of her gender more after she turned thirty. “I suddenly feel a disconnect between my personality and my desires,” she wrote. “Being an artist but also wanting a family may not be as easy for me as it is for my male colleagues.

“I modeled myself almost exclusively on male performers, and for the first time, I felt like a wall had come down between me and my idols as I had to make decisions that they didn’t.”
