Footy star Billy Brownless celebrates one-year anniversary with girlfriend Justine six years after marriage ended: ‘She deserves a medal’
Geelong star Billy Brownless has revealed his romance with girlfriend Justine is going well.
The 56-year-old told The Herald Sun that the couple recently celebrated their one-year anniversary.
“We’re still together, believe it or not,” the former footballer joked to the newspaper.
“It’s been over a year, poor thing, I feel sorry for her but she’s a good girl.” She has her children and I have mine.
“It’s bloody hard work when you’ve been single for a long time.” She deserves a medal.’

Billy first opened up about his new relationship after attending the Australian Open with his girlfriend.
He told the Herald Sun at the time that he was “very happy” with Justine.
‘All goes well. As they say, I take it a week at a time. “We’re very happy and it’s nice to be outside,” he said.
The couple met at the AFL Grand Final September Club in 2019 and began dating almost six months later.
Justine works in customer service and is a mother of two.

She recently vacationed in Fiji with Billy and her friends Erinn Montagna and Leigh Montagna.
Footy fans will no doubt be delighted if Billy opens up about love again after his 18-year marriage to wife Nicky ended sensationally in 2016 after she began dating his best pal, fellow AFL player Garry Lyon.
Both men’s marriages had already ended before Nicky and Lyon announced they were a couple, but Billy still felt betrayed for assuring him they were nothing more than “just good friends”.
After five years of bad blood, Billy and Garry began taking steps towards reconciliation in 2021 when Brownless said they were in a “good position” before spending Christmas Day together.

Billy’s daughter Lucy described the lunch between the blended families as “really special”.
“It worked out really well and it’s all been very positive.” We’re all happy and fortunate to all be together. It was a great day. We were all very excited about it,” she told the Herald Sun at the time.
Billy addressed the issue with fellow AFL members Sam Newman and Don Scott on an episode of their podcast You Cannot Be Serious in September.
Though he hasn’t fully restored his friendship with Lyon yet, he admitted the two could ‘possibly’ be friends like before someday.
