At least five people have died in a horrific accident after two semi-trucks and two other vehicles collided on Interstate 10 in Phoenix, Arizona, Thursday morning.

Initial reports of the crash surfaced just after 6 a.m. east of Chandler Boulevard near the Loop 202 Santan Interchange.

Police said the semi-truck was traveling east when it collided with a car, pushing it into another semi-truck and two other vehicles.

The ADPS initially confirmed that four people were involved in the crash. Two people died in the first car crash in the wreck.

Three other victims were confirmed by ADPS later in the day – although more details about those deaths are yet to be released.

Officials told Fox 10 that two other cars were also damaged before the collision. A child car seat was seen in one of the trapped vehicles, according to the outlet.

The crash marked the third wreck at a half in less than six hours on I-10.

Two separate accidents had shut down the freeway a few miles away at Queen Creek Road around 3:30 a.m.

In the first case, an articulated lorry caught fire near Riggs Road when ADPS said another articulated lorry driver using a car hauler ran into three other articulated lorries.

No one was seriously injured, but extensive traffic jams began in time for the morning commute.

ADPS police told azfamily that a large amount of diesel was spilled onto the road mixed with the wreckage of all four semi-vehicles.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, eastbound I-10 at Ray Road remains closed as of 1:44 p.m. Thursday due to an accident at Chandler Blvd.
