Fridays for Future are inviting again on Friday for a climate strike

In other federal states, too, people are taking to the streets again to protect the climate. In Graz, the climate strike starts around 12.00 at Tummelplatz, in Linz at 12:45 in Lentos, in Salzburg at 15:00 at the main station or in Innsbruck at 13:00 at Marktplatz.

This time, activists from Fridays For Future (FFF) will demonstrate not only adherence to the 1.5 degree target, but also solidarity with Ukraine. And for the fourth time it is demanding the Austrian climate protection law because “there have been no climate targets for 450 days,” recalled Daniel Shams from FFF Austria earlier.

The third item on the climate strike program under the slogan “#PeopleNotProfit” is social justice.

Participants can expect spring temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius and are requested to wear an FFP2 mask.

Antivaccine parade banned in Linz

In Linz, police spokesman David Furtner said the antivaccine car parade was not approved by the police because of the climate strike. In a city the size of Linz, this is unjustified, especially as the demonstrations also overlapped locally.

Furtner emphasized that, in principle, each approval is determined individually. If the organizers had announced their rally at a different time, e.g. at 19:00, there would be no problem. But when two events take place almost simultaneously, the “public good” is no longer ensured.
