“Fugueuse” in the top 10 TV series on Netflix in Canada

The series has been popular since its release on Netflix on November 15th run away managed to climb to sixth place among the top 10 TV series in Canada on Monday.

Ludivine Reding, who played the lead role of Fanny Couture in the series that debuted on TVA in 2018, shared her joy on Facebook on Sunday.

“Six years ago Jean-François and I made Fugueuse. Today, the series was released on Netflix in several countries and also charted on the Netflix Canada charts. It makes me proud that a series from Quebec is being shared a little in our beautiful French language and the work of local artisans is being recognized.

“It’s a very nice surprise! We are very pleased that Fugueuse is one of the top 10 television series in Canada!” comments Chrystine Girard, head of international sales at Groupe Encore, which produced the series about a 16-year-old girl who was seduced into prostitution.

“Fuguuse had a very big influence in Quebec,” she adds. It had a social impact, that’s undeniable. In any case, people are still moved and touched. It’s a timeless series that still resonates with what’s happening in the world today. It’s a series that also brings hope. In the end, the young girl escapes and manages to take control of her life again.”

Even today, Fugueuse allows us to better understand how the world of prostitution works. “We wanted to include all families with Fugueuse,” says Chrystine Girard. And let it open up the discussion so we can talk about it and recognize the codes.”

It was Groupe Encore that approached Netflix to broadcast the series Fugueuse. “Netflix quickly recognized the quality of the series!” says Chrystine Girard.

The series is available in France, the US and the UK in the original French version, with English subtitles on request. “I’m also looking forward to the reaction in other areas,” admits Chrystine Girard.

The series notably stars Claude Legault, Jean-François Ruel, Lynda Johnson and Danielle Proulx.

Netflix offers a number of Quebec films and television series, including “Do you Hear Me?”, “Life, Life” and “19-2”.
