Galaxy Z Flip 5: a surprising new design revealed in pictures – 01net

It’s OnLeaks once again, sharing on its Twitter account the renderings of the design of the future Galaxy Z Flip 5. If these aren’t official, they confirm previous rumors surrounding the new screen that could come with Samsung’s foldable smartphone.

Samsung thinks big

It hasn’t escaped your notice that manufacturers of foldable smartphones are fighting over who will have the largest external screen. In this little game, the Oppo Find N2 Flip (3.26-inch) and the Motorola Razr 2022 (2.7-inch) have taken a step ahead of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and its 1.9-inch outer screen. But the Korean giant doesn’t want to stop there and could return with a new, even bigger screen with an amazing shape.

As you can see from the (unofficial) renders from OnLeaks, the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s external screen would take up much more space than the previous model. In fact, Samsung would have opted for a 3.4-inch disk in the form of a “folder”. The notch would leave nothing to chance insofar as it would bypass the two camera modules, which would no longer be positioned vertically but horizontally.

Having a big external screen is good, offering good software integration is better. This is where Samsung could make the difference. Because if its Chinese competitors were sometimes more adept in terms of hardware, the Korean brand has shown much more mastery in proposing dedicated software functions.

Well used, a larger external screen limits the number of openings and closings of the device, which is both more practical but also increases the durability of the device. In fact, there would be less stress on the hinge and the main screen would have less chance of being damaged.

What else can we expect from the Galaxy Z Flip 5?

These renderings are accompanied by other features that are expected of the Galaxy Z Flip 5. These range from the main screen, which will continue to be 6.7 inches, to the camera block, which will continue to consist of two 12-megapixel modules. However, Samsung could change the sensors to improve photo and video playback.

The source also cites dimensions of 165 × 71.8 × 6.7mm when unfolded. These are more or less identical to those on the Z Flip 4, suggesting that Samsung has no plans to resize its foldable phone this year.

On the other hand, the manufacturer could opt for a new “teardrop” shaped hinge that would allow the phone to close completely flat while reducing screen folding. On this point, the company would only catch up with the competition.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 : We know their loading speed, disappointing…

As for the internal components, Samsung would once again trust Qualcomm and integrate a high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. The latter would be accompanied by 128 or 256 GB of RAM in UFS 4.0 for an impeccable response, whether we have the right to expect on one product at this price.

On the price side, there’s little chance that the Z Flip 5 will be cheaper than its predecessor, which currently sells from €999 in its 128GB version, but Samsung sold €1109 at launch. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5 this summer, but on an unusual date.
