General strike in the West Bank

In protest against the Gaza war, many shops and public institutions remained closed in the Palestinian West Bank, as well as in Jordan and Lebanon on Monday. The attacks are part of a global call to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. In Mauritania, northwest Africa, all exams and classes scheduled for Monday were canceled to allow students to participate in protest activities.

In the West Bank, public facilities remained closed on Monday. Schools, universities and banks reportedly participated in the general strike in Palestinian territory.

In Jordan's capital, Amman, and other cities, the streets would be deserted on Monday. Stores placed posters on their doors informing people of their participation in the strike. In Lebanon, government facilities and schools remained closed.

The Gaza War was triggered by the worst massacre in Israel's history, perpetrated by terrorists from Hamas and other extremist groups on October 7 in Israel, near the border with the Gaza Strip. According to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health, around 18,000 people have died as a result of subsequent Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip. According to the UN, the humanitarian situation in the isolated area is devastating.
