German ministers Annalena Baerbock (Foreign Affairs) and Nancy Faser (Interior), have been conducting inspections in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş, the epicenter of the February 6 earthquakes, dubbed the “disaster of the century.”
After meeting victims in the tent city, the ministers visited the medical tent set up by German volunteer doctors.
They walked through the rubble areas in the district center and went to the media to report on the situation.
The German foreign minister said “the magnitude of this seismic catastrophe cannot be explained in words, although they may well be here”.
The German diplomat confirmed that she had seen how important international aid was.
He emphasized that they, like the federal government, had provided 50 million euros for tents, medical equipment, food, blankets and generators.
“In this way, German aid for the victims has reached 108 million euros,” he explained.
For her part, Interior Minister Faeser confirmed that they came to show solidarity with the victims and that they could not only see the sadness here, but also how well the help was being provided.
