We had to wait until Monday night’s WWDC to learn more about the new 15-inch MacBook Air, but here it is official. The device that has appeared with the biggest record in the featherweight division since its debut in 2008 is already here accessible is pre-ordered but shouldn’t reach the first buyers until next week. But this without counting on the opinions of the first testers who were able to quickly test the beast at Apple Park. Here is her opinion.
First off, it’s obviously the record that challenges. With a resolution of 2,880 x 1,864 pixels, it achieves a brightness of five hundred nits. It’s quite ‘decent’ for our Pocket-lint peers, while The Verge lags by evoking lower quality here than that of the 16-inch MacBook Pro launched late last year.
What about design?
As for the size of the 15-inch MacBook Air, everyone seems to agree that it’s more or less the 13-inch model – just bigger. The proportions are apparently identical to a particularly large touchpad This will delight those who need to master photo editing on the go.
The American broadcaster CNN was also able to take control of the computer and considers it to be “always thin and light”, thereby keeping its promise. It has to be said that the device weighs only 1.51 kg and is just under 1.15 cm thick. It’s not much, and it’s proving to be a choice for digital nomads.
Finally, note the opinion of Tom’s Guide, who finds it a shame that the MacBook Air is being priced the same as the 13-inch MacBook Pro, even though the speakers are now “more robust”. The site also highlights the autonomy of 18 hours, an excellent value for a product of this size.
Price and technical sheet
The 15-inch MacBook Air M2 can be ordered for €1,599 at least today. The basic version only includes 8 GB of RAM for this price, but a chip with eight GPU cores and ten graphics card cores.
For 16 GB RAM you have to add 230 euros to the bill, compared to 460 euros for 24 GB. Internal storage is also a choice: 230 euros more for 512 GB, + 460 euros for 1 TB and + 920 euros for 2 TB. Everything in SSD and with 256 GB automatically available at no extra charge in the version for 1,599 euros.
