This year's Golden Globes poked fun at some of the most controversial cinematic topics of the past year. Comedian Jo Koy, who hosted the ceremony, played with the prosthetic nose used by Bradley Cooper in the film Maestro and in the scene from Saltburn where Barry Keoghan dances naked.
Jo Koy also made fun of his last minute signing for the event. “I got this job ten days ago, I apologize,” he said excitedly to the audience at the start of the evening.
He then explained that he hadn't seen all of the films and series nominated for the award this year and mentioned that he would finish watching “Oppenheimer.” “The film could have lasted another hour,” he explained on stage at the event. “My goal for 2024 is to finish 'Oppenheimer' in 2025.”
The presenter also made fun of “Barbie,” defining the production as a movie about a doll with breasts. The program recorded discomfort in the reactions of the two films' directors, Christopher Nolan and Greta Gerwig, to the monologue.
