Google Photos: No more hassle with these three new features – Frandroid

Google Photos is adding three small, handy new features: the ability to create stacks of similar photos, subfolders for screenshots, and automatic reminders created from the shots.

If you’re the kind of person who always takes multiple shots of the same scene to make sure at least one photo turns out, you probably already have a number of similar photos. As you scroll through your photo library, these can quickly complicate the experience. All of this is intended to simplify Google Photos, which lets you automatically save your photos to the cloud for a paid subscription.

In a blog post, the tech giant explains that on average a third of the photos in its users’ galleries are similar. From now on these will be automatically recognized and you will be given the opportunity to create a batch. The idea is that you can keep these photos while ensuring they take up less space in the library.

Of course, you can add or remove photos as you create the stack. You can also choose which image to highlight at the top of the stack.

An option to save screenshots

Google also offers a solution for efficiently sorting screenshots. Instead of creating a large folder with all the screenshots in bulk, it now creates subcategories like “ID Documents,” “Receipts,” etc.

In addition, it is now possible to create a reminder in the calendar from a screenshot. Google takes the example of a concert ticket, where Google Photos automatically fetches the date of the event to save time.
