The Gossip Girl OG queen returned to the Upper East Side on Thursday — and she came with gifts!
More specifically, Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) provided vital information about two of the original series’ main characters, Dan (Penn Badgley) and Serena (Blake Lively). And where better to do that than at the couple’s apartment, where a kidnapped Kate woke up in one of Serena’s signature dresses.
“Brooklyn Heights? I would rather be back in Jesus’ camp than be found dead here,” Georgina said to her well-dressed prisoner. “This is Dan and Serena’s house. They fired their employees when they thought someone was going to break in. At first they thought it was the bouncer, but when they kept coming back to it, they put cameras everywhere. I had my son loop the image, so now they’re bringing in a paranormal expert. They have no idea I’m their poltergeist. [I’ve been doing this for] five or six years. At first it was minor annoyances – grabbing a sock or two, turning the heat down. But then I wanted something a little more fun, like replacing the oat milk with whole milk. Your child is lactose intolerant. They’ve seen every specialist and no one knows what’s going on.”
(So there you have it: Dan and Serena, who famously swapped vows in the original series finale, are still going strong — and they’ve got a little Gossip Baby of their own!)
Georgina then forced Kate to sabotage Max’s father’s renewal ceremony, which turned out to be just a test. As she explained in the final moments of the episode, Georgina’s mission to be “f-ks-t up” is only just beginning, whether Kate willingly plays along or not.
Of course, Georgina wasn’t the only character from the original series to make an appearance this week. We also caught up with Nelly Yuki (Yin Chang), who is now the youngest assistant editor in the history of New York Magazine. She previously appeared in an episode of the first season of the HBO Max reboot.
