Grand bien-cuit by Michel Charette: much more than just jokes

For the grand well-cooked ComediHa! by Michel Charette, the actor’s friends and guests were able to stay away from simple gags about his weight and old weight. The subject was addressed, but always with good taste and, above all, without relapsing into repetition.

Notwithstanding the things he was accused of on Saturday night at the Grand Théâtre de Québec, the actor and comedian was a con man and didn’t hesitate to revive those who taunted him as part of his well-prepared show.

Michel Charette has laid the foundation for his first solo exhibition, which he is currently preparing. This first solo show was also the subject of jokes from his fellow comedians. The rest of his career came under scrutiny; from Radio Enfer to the Boys to the theater and its roles on the small screen.

The guests also did not fail to emphasize the actor’s annoying habit of tripping, even when his role does not require it. Videos of his fall got the crowd laughing.

With those who made life difficult for him throughout the evening, Michel Charette shone when it came time to take his place behind the lectern and give his colleagues the change.

A proven moderator

Choosing Phil Roy to host couldn’t be better. His sense of self-mockery, particularly in relation to his weight and physical condition, charismatically set the stage for the humor one would expect from watching Michel Charette cook.

However, the host avoided redundancy, mocking the actor and comedian throughout his career and opening up about his personal life, always mindful of the seven other guests on stage.

An old friend

Vincent Bolduc is a long-time friend of Michel Charette and he allowed himself to be guided by their young years to poke fun at him. Obviously whoever went to the Twister had a flair for the party and didn’t hesitate to show his card to the Union des artistes when he left; a joke that made him respond well.

In “Good Taste,” Bolduc criticized his old friend’s weight and old eating habits, mentioning that he’s a lot “cooler” when he’s not taking care of himself. The roast took it all with his head held high before receiving compliments on his fitness and bravery from whoever was taunting him.

Gildor Roy: Masterful

Michel Charette excitedly watched his turn as actor/comedian Gildor Roy took turns cooking for the other guests. The wait for the face of the evening will not have been in vain as he spent his time bidding while his former Les Boys 4 team-mate pursued his case.

Michel Charette’s wife, Marie-Claude, who sat in the front row, was not spared Gildor Roy’s gags. The latter ended his speech by saying a few words in Spanish; an allusion to the origin of women.

“You won’t have the choice to talk to your mother-in-law,” he told his friend in French before giving way to Réal Béland.

Corporal Carole

Silvi Tourigny added glittery shoulder pads to the usual beige turtleneck of her Carole character.

Before attacking all the guests with his icy face, the comedian got the crowd laughing by mistaking Michel Charette for Michel Barrette.

The star of the evening didn’t have to wait long to be introduced to the oven. Looking through her record, Carole made sure to go through her entire career, examining her in her roles in theater as well as on the small and big screen.

The king of the teenagers

To the delight of the audience, Réal Béland brought back his character from The King of Teens to address Michel Charette. The regular at ComediHa! The year 2023 was far from rusty as he donned his wig and orange-accented suit and brought absurdity, humor and arrogance to his good friend and all guests.

From actor to comedian without complex

While Vincent-Guillaume Otis doesn’t usually wear a comedian’s hat, it didn’t seem to be the case. Charismatic, eloquent and of course full of humour, the actor who starred in the film Babine was ready to put his friend Michel Charette on the spit.

The spectators, the guests, but above all the main interested parties were all enthusiastic about the act of the 45-year-old actor.

“Like District 31, he steals the show! “Release the one who is being roasted to his interlocutor.

Vincent-Guillaume Otis went into the more personal side of his relationship with Michel Charette, talking about their projects together and the hunting lessons they shared, concluding by showing him his love and respect.

When he returned to his seat, the audience gave him a standing ovation.

Jessica Barker doesn’t miss the mark

Michel Charette’s co-host at Rouge FM, Jessica Barker, nailed it. The actress, best known for her role in Les Intrépides in the 1990s, lashed out at main viewers about her radio performances and her absent-minded father qualities to the roar of the Grand Théâtre de Québec.

The complicity between Michel Charette and the one who attracted him was palpable, especially when she went there with a joke about his wife.

“That must be why your girlfriend makes her law; to make sure we have custody of the kids,” she told him before he burst out laughing.

Daniel Savoie or Patrice Lemieux

Taking his place at the lectern after Jessica Barker, Daniel Savoie decided to attack the physique of his interlocutor, impersonating his role as Patrice Lemieux, the eloquent ice hockey player.

The comedian has always had good taste and, as we’ve come to expect from his character, disregarded all possible forms of expression while poking fun at the famous Po-Paul character, played by Michel Charette in Les Boys.
