Guy Sebastian says he regrets getting into a legal battle with his neighbor over a shared fence – security footage of the alleged incident is due to be played in court the same day.
The first Australian Idol winner, 41, has accused his elderly neighbor Phillip Hanslow, 66, of threatening to kill him during a long-running row over the fence.
Hanslow is accused of threatening the singer’s life and killing him on March 23.
The pensioner is fighting the charges, with his defense attorney claiming CCTV footage shows the singer towering over his client with a brick.
When the matter returns to Waverley Court on Thursday, Sebastian admitted the dispute had become a “circus” and that he wished it “never happened”.
“It’s out of my hands,” Sebastian told the Daily Telegraph.
“I’ve had to endure a lot of things that have been said … but I can’t fight it all anymore.”

The chart-topper said the ongoing legal battle is just another reminder to remember the good things in his life, his wife of 15 and their two sons.
Sebastian’s alleged falling out with his elderly neighbor follows nearly a decade of mounting tensions over the pop star’s spacious concrete mansion, which cost $7 million to buy and renovate.
This week, the singer released his debut perfume Embrace (pictured), which was inspired by his 15-year-old wife Jules. He sang a love song titled “Right One” to his wife at the press event.
During an interview about his new perfume on Wednesday, Guy, 41, told Channel Seven’s The Morning Show the drama was “amplified”.
The bitter feud began in 2013 when Sebastian, 41, and his wife Jules Egan, 43, bought their property in Maroubra in Sydney’s eastern suburbs for $3.1 million.
When they tore down the house to build their sprawling new dream mansion, it sparked a feud with their new elderly neighbors.
Hanslow claims debris from the demolition damaged his home when a “brick rocket” slammed into an outside wall, narrowly missing his living room window and his terminally ill wife Carol, who was inside watching TV.
During the January 23 altercation, Hanslow is accused of telling the Battle Scars hitmaker, “I’ll put a bullet in your head.” However, Hanslow believes he actually said, “Someday someone’s going to put a bullet in your head.”
He was arrested, charged and, for Sebastian’s protection, beaten with a presumed violent warrant.
The retiree was represented by celebrity attorney Bryan Wrench, who told the court he was waiting for Sebastian to turn over footage of the alleged incident.
Mr Wrench told court earlier this month: “We expect the footage to be shown [Sebastian] Lord Hanslow towering with a brick in hand.
The couple have been together for 15 years and have two sons together; Hudson, 11, and Archer, 8
Sebastian has assured fans he’s “okay” amid the ongoing legal battle with his neighbor and said people are going through “a lot worse” than a fight over a shared fence
In court, Hanslow told Chron Australia that his neighbor was a “vindictive” person and that he had to sell his house.
“He’s paranoid about security and has a big security camera outside so he can see everywhere I go on the property…” he claimed earlier this month.
During an interview with Sprik about his new perfume, Guy, 41, told Channel Seven’s The Morning Show on Wednesday the drama was “amplified”.
“It was very amplified by all the headlines,” he said.
“On the other hand, so many great things are happening with my family.”
“There’s a lot of fans reaching out and they’re really concerned, but I’m fine. People go through a lot worse and it’s one of those things that you just have to deal with.
This week, the singer released his debut perfume, Embrace, inspired by his partner Jules. At the press event, he sang her a love song titled “Right One.”
The advertisement for the perfume appropriately features an image of the couple embracing, with Sebastian looking sharp in a black suit and tie while Jules revels in a sequined red dress.
“It has been a dream of mine for a long time to create a fragrance line. Anyone who knows me well knows how obsessed I am with scents,” the father-of-two wrote on Instagram on Wednesday.
“I never leave the house without a scent and I love that feeling when you find that new smell that just speaks to you,” he added.
