He could face jail after calling his ex 800 times in two days

A Maryland man could face the next five years in prison after calling his ex-wife more than 800 times in two days.

Derik Wayne Bowers, 44, was arrested and accused of cyberbullying after trying to contact and intimidate his former flame via phone, text and Facebook.

The prosecution alleges that the man allegedly called the woman 815 times in two days in December 2022. He would also have sent thousands of text messages over the past few months, trying to publicly humiliate them on social media.

If convicted, Bowers faces up to five years in prison.

“Cyberbullying is a serious crime,” said the prosecutor in this case. I encourage victims to file complaints to prevent perpetrators from harming other people.”

The FBI and the Sheriff’s Office continue their investigation.
