– Cole Caufield, eight years and $62.8 million

At 22 and after 123 games in the National Hockey League (NHL), Caufield will earn an annual salary of $7.85 million through the end of the 2030-2031 season. The University of Wisconsin product was a top priority for GM Kent Hughes after hitting the target 26 times in 46 games last season.

– Nick Suzuki, eight years and $63 million

In October 2021, the CH awarded the player, who would become the 31st captain in his history about a year later, an eight-year contract extension worth $7.875 million per year. This is the largest deal granted to a striker in Sainte-Flanelle’s history.

– Carey Price, eight years and $84 million

He’s the goaltender who signed the most lucrative contract in the Canadiens’ long history. In July 2017, former general manager Marc Bergevin awarded him a $10.5 million per year contract through the end of the 2025–2026 season. Price last scored for the Habs in 2021-22 and is unlikely to play in the NHL again as his name is permanently on the club’s long-term injured list.

– PK Subban, eight years and $72 million

The defenseman was a huge fan favorite during his time with the Canadiens and landed a major contract in August 2014. This enabled him to earn $9 million a year for most of his 13-year career on Bettman Circuit. A little less than two years after signing that agreement, Subban was traded to the Nashville Predators, where he played for three seasons. He then signed that contract in the colors of the New Jersey Devils.

– Josh Anderson, seven years and $38.5 million

Two days after signing a deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets in October 2020, the forward was handed a seven-year deal worth $5.5 million a year. It was a nice risk for a player limited to four points in 26 games last season. Since then, Anderson has accumulated 88 points (57 goals and 31 assists) in 190 games in three seasons with the CH.

* Several have signed six-year contracts with the Canadiens for more than two decades, including Jonathan Drouin ($33 million), Brendan Gallagher ($39 million), Max Pacioretty ($27 million), Josh Gorges (23, $4 million) and Tomas Plekanec ($30 million).
