Horrifying moment as a boy is knocked to the ground after trying to save his 17-year-old friend Jonathan Lewis, who was ‘beaten to death’ by a mob of thugs in Las Vegas as he tried to defend another student

New footage has emerged of the moment a massive gang of teenagers brutally beats a high school student on the streets of Las Vegas.

Jonathan Lewis was beaten by about fifteen other teenagers across from Rancho High School earlier this month.

Video of the brutal attack was captured on cell phone video from multiple angles and captures the terrifying moment Lewis is attacked by the mob of teenagers.

The footage also shows him throwing a punch before the meat of the attack takes place.

The teenager had no chance against the mob as they showed no mercy in their attack.

He died of his injuries days later in a Vegas hospital, with his father holding his hand as he sat at his bedside.

The attack happened on November 1 when the 17-year-old was beaten up by rowdy teenagers in broad daylight.

The new footage appears to provide clearer images of what happened when Lewis was beaten to a pulp and is seen throwing a punch.

Within seconds, the pack pounces on him and he is thrown to the ground.

So many boys get into the scuffle that Lewis, who is now lying flat on the ground, can no longer be clearly seen.

The fight continues for about 30 seconds as the group continues to punch and kick Lewis before members of the group then break away.

Other small scuffles also break out, involving fist bumps between other teenagers just a few feet away from where Lewis is now unconscious.

After Jonathan is knocked to the ground, one of his friends tries to intervene and stop the brutal attack.

He can then also be seen being hit in the back of the head by another teenager.

He turns and runs after his attacker as another melee breaks out from where Lewis still lies on the ground.

The video shows the boy who tried to intervene surrounded by a smaller group of three to four teenagers. He is also knocked down by blows, but manages to get back up.

Police officers found Lewis bleeding from the head around 2 p.m. that day.

Those standing nearby said paramedics performed chest compressions on the teenager before he was taken to hospital.

The teenager was on life support at University Hospital, where he died last Tuesday after doctors tried in vain to save his life.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by his family, he was allegedly targeted after he stood up for a minor friend who had just been robbed by the mob.

“I can only hope that there is a way to find forgiveness in their hearts and find a way to come to terms with what they did,” the boy’s father, also named Jonathan Lewis, said of his attackers son.

Lewis said his son typically kept to himself and had planned to move to Austin, Texas, to be with his father.

The teenager was living with his mother in Las Vegas at the time of his death.

“Violence just breeds more violence and half the time these kids don’t even know what they’re doing,” Lewis told 8NewsNow.

After the teenager’s death, a video circulated on social media showing the moment the fight broke out.

Lewis claimed his son stood up for a “smaller friend” who had something stolen by the group and then thrown into a trash can.

He described his son as “brave” and said he wanted to donate his organs to save others.

The heartbroken father added: “I think humanity as a whole just hasn’t realized that we need to teach our youth how to live together.”

“A few people attacked him, but they couldn’t hurt him enough, and they all attacked him at the same time,” the heartbroken father explained.

The Las Vegas city police have now opened a murder investigation.

So far there have been no arrests. Lewis said investigators have told the family they plan to charge several students involved in the murder.

The father said: “We’re all just trying to process this.” “The whole family is in shock.”

Lewis created a GoFundMe page called “Heart of a Champion Our Son” where he posted a photo of himself holding his son’s hand in the hospital shortly before his death.

“He will always be loved like his father, I will carry him in my heart forever, shine even brighter, love even more and work all my life to bring peace to this world,” Lewis wrote.

“Empathy and love are great strength and cowardly violence is pathetic,” the father added. “A true warrior would never cowardly strike a person just because the two or three members of the group could not defeat the one warrior. A true warrior would let others learn and grow.”

The teenager was said to be an aspiring artist and a devoted older brother.

“While our hearts are broken and this tragedy is absolute absurd madness, we want to focus on our son’s legacy,” Lewis added.

“Jonathan was a loving, generous, kind, fierce young man who loved community and cared about others.”
