Hungary continues to block the transfer of 500 million euros in European military aid to Ukraine

At a meeting of European Union foreign ministers on Thursday, Hungary’s foreign minister announced that Hungary would continue to veto the transfer of a €500 million European military aid package to Ukraine. To be approved, the measure requires the consent of all 27 member states of the European Union.

Hungary has refused to provide that aid since May, when Ukraine put Hungary’s main bank, OTP Bank, on its list of “International War Sponsors,” a list of private companies that Ukraine’s government says have significant commercial activities in Russia. Hungary says it will not approve aid until the bank is removed from the list.
