I have failed the city of Philadelphia – Bryce Harper

“I have failed the city of Philadelphia” – Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies star player Bryce Harper was inconsolable Tuesday night.

The 31-year-old athlete took the blame for his team’s 4-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the seventh and final game of the National Finals.

“I feel like I let my team and the city of Philadelphia down,” said Harper, whose comments were reported by MLB.com.

The 31-year-old veteran had the opportunity to make the difference in the seventh inning. With his club two runs behind him, Harper arrived at the finish with two teammates already on the trails. He finally hit a ball that allowed the “D-Backs” to end the fight.

“I had a fastball and missed it,” he said. He made the throw I wanted. The count was 2-1 and he threw me a fastball and I… I just wasn’t able to get the job done at that point. It’s a disaster.”

This meant Harper experienced the complete opposite of what happened in the 2022 National Finals. Back then, he hit a home run in the eighth inning that enabled his team to win over the San Diego Padres and reach the World Series.
