“In Cammino”, journey between European abbeys

(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 12 – After the success and international interest brought by its departure on July 28 from Canterbury, Great Britain, the birthplace of the Via Francigena, “On the way” returns to Italy, where on the day of 12 Friday, September 15, 2023, it will prepare its second stage in the Chiaravalle Abbey, on the outskirts of Milan. “On the way” is the special exhibition conceived and promoted by Livia Pomodoro that will travel through Europe in three years, from 2023 to 2025, visiting seven countries (England, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy) and other countries will feature 14 of our continent’s largest and most prestigious abbeys, many of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Inside, theatrical and musical performances, concerts and readings are organized, inspired by words and themes dedicated to the idea of travel and pilgrimage, as well as round tables and meetings with experts and scientists, protagonists of good practices in the organic world .

Not just a pilgrimage translated into a modern language, but a moment of encounter and learning in these timeless places, a symbol of European history and spirituality, to arrive in Rome in 2025 on the occasion of the Holy Year.

“On the way” will trace the three main experiences of the journey in each of the three years: departure (2023), transit (2024), arrival (2025). In each individual phase, in collaboration with the Treccani Institute, a word will be expressed that will serve as an active leitmotif for shows, concerts and meetings in the abbeys. The word chosen for Chiaravalle Milanese is “spirituality”.

As part of the program on September 15th, we will talk about “Sustainability and Food: Positive Food, a New Labeling Proposal” and Spirituality in Contemporary Art.

“It is important that our second stop is here, in the Abbey of Chiaravalle,” emphasized Livia Pomodoro, president of the Spazio Teatro No’hma in Milan and initiator of the event – and not just a place for the dissemination of the spiritual teachings of Saint Bernard , but also the center of innovative agricultural activities of its time and the cradle of gastronomic excellence of Italian and international cuisine.

Spirituality and biologically sustainable agriculture are also the future of a humanity that needs to believe in itself again and rediscover the basic values of civil coexistence.”

“On the Road” is among the events selected by Msgr. Rino Fisichella on the anniversary 2025. (ANSA).
