This is the heartbreaking moment a heroic police officer rescued a troubled teenager who jumped onto railroad tracks in front of an oncoming train.
CCTV footage filmed at Vitthalwadi railway station, Thane District, Maharashtra, India on March 23 shows the boy loitering at the edge of the platform.
The police officer in a khaki uniform walks past him, then turns and tells him to get off the platform.
But the teenager jumps onto the train tracks and falls backwards and the policeman then runs to him.

Shortly after he pulls him off the track, a train rushes past them and people watch in horror after the near miss.
The boy was taken to the Kalyan railway station police station, where officers called his parents.
Online, the officer was hailed as a hero for jumping onto the tracks to save the boy.
Vikram Karandikar said: ‘Give this policeman a medal and a proper award.’
If the policeman had delayed his action by a few seconds, the boy might have been killed by the oncoming train (pictured).
