Lucasfilm has released the new trailer for Indiana Jones 5 – titled Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune, the first under the Disney banner. Some scenes of the fifth chapter of the saga were filmed in Sicily: from Segesta in the Trapani area to Cefalù and between Noto and Syracuse. The film’s release date is set for June 28 in Italy.
The first scenes were shot in October 2021 at the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, specifically at the Ear of Dionysus and in the Grotta dei Cordari, then at the Castello Maniace in the historic center of Ortigia. Ropes, very steep wooden stairs, a chase through tunnels, even in the unique scenarios of Syracuse: the archaeologist (his stunt double) seems to have been put to the test. And here the ear of Dionysus turns into a mine and the Maniace Castle is the heart of various scenes shot between the mainland and the sea with spectacular special effects: fake explosions, smoke and gunfire.
In addition to Harrison Ford, the film’s cast includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Oliver Richters, Ethann Isidor and Mads Mikkelsen. The film is directed by James Mangold and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. The soundtrack was again composed by John Williams, who has scored every Indiana Jones adventure since the original Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981.
Summary. “Indy is no longer the one who faced the Nazis in an English castle in 1944. We are indeed in 1969, in the hectic days of the moon landings. An Indiana married to Marion is now nearing retirement and feels overtaken by the world around him, so much so that ex-Nazi scientists like Voller are even working with NASA. Just as he’s about to hang up the whip, Prof. Henry says Jones is drawn into a new adventure around the world by his goddaughter Helena to intercept a mysterious object.
