Inter Miami CF bought goalkeeper Nick Marsman last week and many are wondering if that has anything to do with what was said about Lionel Messi before he joined the club.
Last June, in an interview with the ESPN network, the 32-year-old athlete said that the Florida organization was “not ready for the arrival of Lionel Messi”.

“We have a temporary stadium. People can enter the pitch and we go into the stadium with no security. I hope it will happen but I don’t think they are ready yet,” he added.
The soccer superstar eventually joined Inter Miami days after the goalkeeper’s claims and made his debut for the Major League Soccer (MLS) side in July. Since then, Messi has scored seven goals and provided three assists in four games.
Inter Miami saves $587,000 and frees up an international player spot by buying out the final year of Marsman’s contract.
It is a very difficult year for the Dutchman. In late June, Marsman spent three days in the hospital after being bitten by a spider while visiting the zoo.
The veteran, who has played in MLS since 2021, has not played a game since the start of this season. In three seasons for the Miami club, he played 45 games and had six shutouts.
