At a meeting with Lebanese figures, including Culture Minister Muhammad Wissam Al-Murtadha and Labor Minister Mustafa Bayram, the Iranian Foreign Minister described the exchange of views in the country on the horizons of bilateral relations as positive.
At the same time, Amir Abdollahian highlighted the sufficient competence of the Lebanese political parties to elect the president of the republic without foreign interference.
Regarding the political process, the minister hoped that the appointment of the head of state and the formation of a new government will be completed as soon as possible to lay the foundation for strengthening bilateral ties and the visit of Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, in the lebanon.
The head of Persian diplomacy renewed Tehran’s willingness to cooperate with the Levantine nation in the fields of economy, trade and energy in light of the deteriorating living conditions of its residents.
On regional issues, the foreign minister highlighted Iran’s focus on the doctrine of balanced foreign policy, advocated ending the war in Yemen, supported the formation of a comprehensive government in Afghanistan, and supported resistance in Syria, Palestine and Lebanon.
The meeting with Lebanese figures was also attended by members of the International Union of Scholars in Support of the Resistance, the Board of Trustees of the Assembly of Muslim Scholars and some parliamentarians.
While in Beirut since Thursday afternoon, Amir Abdollahian spoke with his counterpart, Abdallah Bou Habib; the Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri; and Interim Prime Minister Najib Miqati.
In addition, the Iranian Foreign Minister held talks with Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and Islamic Jihad Movement leader Ziyad al-Nakhala to reiterate support for the Islamic Revolution for the political situation in Lebanon and Palestine.
Accompanied by the Lebanese Minister of Culture, Muhammad Wissam Al-Murtada, the head of Iranian diplomacy paid tribute to those who died in the fight against the Israeli entity.
The Persian foreign minister also exchanged views with Iranians living in the country in the Imam Khomeini complex and in the mosque.
After the Beirut tour, Amir Abdollahian will travel to Moscow next week to meet his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to resume the joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the nuclear deal and agree on a zone of free bilateral relations.
