Iran’s supreme leader calls for economic boycott of Israel

Tehran, November 1 (EFE). – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei called this Wednesday on Islamic countries to boycott Israel by stopping the export of oil and food to the Jewish state due to the war in Gaza.

“The bombings in Gaza must be stopped and the export of oil and food to the Zionist regime must be blocked,” the religious said at a meeting with students in Tehran in an appeal to Muslim countries.

“There is no need to cooperate economically with the Zionist regime,” he emphasized, according to the state agency IRNA.

Khamenei reiterated that this is not a conflict between Gaza and Israel, but rather a clash between “truth and lies, between the power of faith and the power of arrogance.”

For this reason, he believed that the Palestinian people had “moved the human conscience,” which is why even in Western countries such as the United States, France and England, people took to the streets to protest.

“The world of imperialism has taken a step forward with bombs, military pressure, tragedies and crimes, but you must know that the power of faith will overcome them,” he assured.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel are bitter enemies, posing a mutual existential threat, competing for regional hegemony and waging a covert war of cyberattacks, assassinations and sabotage.

Iran leads the so-called Axis of Resistance, an informal alliance made up of militant organizations such as the Lebanese group Hezbollah, the Palestinian movement Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Israel has been bombing the Palestinian Gaza Strip since the attack by Hamas’ armed wing on its territory that killed 1,400 people, causing 8,500 deaths, according to Gaza authorities. EFE
