Israel has increased attacks on the enclave in recent days. According to the Hamas group, at least 70 people died in bomb attacks on the night of Sunday (22) to Monday.
According to the radical Palestinian group, 17 people died this Sunday in a house in Jabalya, in the north of the territory, and another 25 in an attack in the center of the enclave. The Hamas Ministry of Health indicates that “ten bodies have been removed from the rubble” after a house was destroyed in Deir elBalah, in the center, this Monday (23).
This Monday, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, called for help to reach the Gaza Strip “as quickly as possible”. He said he was in favor of a humanitarian ceasefire, as was UN SecretaryGeneral Antonio Guterres.
“I personally believe that a humanitarian pause is necessary to allow the distribution of aid,” he explained. According to him, the matter will be discussed at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg. The issue will also be discussed at the EU summit in Brussels on Thursday (26th) and Friday (27th).
Turkish Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky said the ceasefire was a “difficult goal to achieve” given the current circumstances. “There is a terrorist organization that controls Gaza, sending rockets every day and organizing barbaric attacks on Israeli territory,” he said.
“The question is how this ceasefire could come about: it must be applied on both sides.” For the head of German diplomacy, Annalena Baerbock, “it is impossible to put an end to the human catastrophe if terrorism continues in Gaza stay active,” she said.
