The war in the Middle East continues unabated, with possible developments that will further change the face of the territory. In fact, Israel has informed Egypt that it intends to launch a military operation to take control of the Gaza Strip-Egypt border. This is reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing Israeli and Egyptian officials. The plan calls for Israel to take control of the Rafah border crossing and position its troops along the so-called Philadelphia Corridor, which separates Egypt and the Palestinian enclave, while Israeli forces continue to operate within the strip. Israeli officials reportedly sought to allay Egyptian concerns that the operation could cause unintended harm in Egypt.

The report explains that Israeli leaders say Tel Aviv is seeking control of the area to prevent Hamas from smuggling weapons into the Gaza Strip, but Egypt fears such an operation would undermine the existing peace treaty between Egypt and Israel question that limits the number of attacks. Every country can station soldiers on its borders. Israel has not yet approved the mission and its timing depends on negotiations with the Egyptian government, which is trying to negotiate a new hostage release deal with Hamas.
