In an interview with LCN, the journalist was on the verge of tears, paying tribute to who he believes is a leader in his field.

It wasnt Yvon it was Mr Pedneault Felix Seguin

“For me and a lot of fans, it’s a blow because of Yvon Pedneault and it’s THE reference,” he said. He’s a very popular man. A man who was always looking for the right information. A man of class, plenty of grace that was still relevant through the years. It wasn’t Yvon, it was Mr Pedneault.

Félix Séguin has spent a great deal of time with Mr. Pedneault over the last few years, witnessing his unparalleled professionalism.

“I’ve had the great privilege of working closely with him,” he adds. Everyone does their little thing in our industry, but I’ve had the great privilege of being able to sit down with him before or after a game to talk about hockey and our profession.

“Yvon is the best teacher for imparting information,” said Mr. Séguin. The sources, the people, the portrayal, both in the newspapers and on the radio and television, with Yvon there were no half measures. Everything was calculated, planned, it was done with precision and before divulging any information he always made sure it was true because he was aware of the impact it could have on a sports community.

His work as the Canadiens’ game analyst has notably shaped the current game descriptor, which considers him an inspiration.

“Yvon had an ability to capitalize on the present moment in everything that happened in a game. Here’s what happened and how it affects the rest of the game. He had this ability to analyze. He had the power to search for messages to put events into perspective.

“For me he was a role model, a reference, a man who was like a beacon for me and for our generation,” he adds. As we watched him analyze Canadiens games, we all wanted to be somewhere like Yvon Pedneault.
