After months of searching, Italian carabinieri arrested Luigi Cacciapuoti, one of the leaders of the Camorra, in a magnificent villa.

Found because of a poodle. Last Friday, Luigi Cacciapuoti, one of the leaders of the Neapolitan Mafia, was arrested by Italian law enforcement authorities. In a press release, the transalpine carabinieri announced “the end of a manhunt lasting several months.” The 64-year-old had been on the run since February and was sentenced to 15 years in prison for “mafia association”.

An investigation led by the Carabinieri and coordinated by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate revealed that Luigi Cacciapuoti was in a perimeter near the town of Villaricca. Despite this location, the clan leader was nowhere to be found.

Betrayed by a poodle

For several months the police tried every possible way to get their hands on the godfather without success. One day luck decides to help the carabinieri. While hiding in the streets of Villarica, the soldiers noticed a small white dog “peeping through a half-closed window of a large villa.” This poodle is not just any animal. He is the faithful companion of a woman close to Luigi Cacciapuoti.

After confirming the dog’s identity, authorities decided to surround the villa and arrest the suspect. The man offered no resistance. During his arrest, Luigi Cacciapuoti was “lying on the edge of his swimming pool” reading an article about the news from Ponticelli’s Camorra.
