The carefree vacation times are over. More and more popular holiday regions are taking action against mass tourism.
Just lay out your towel, put your feet in the sand and listen to the sound of the sea. What seems like a typical summer vacation can be expensive in Sardinia. Access to certain beaches on the popular Italian island has been regulated for several years.
Tourists in Italy should pay attention to these prohibitions >>>
Ticket-only access
But they are particularly hard on the dreamy white beach of La Pelosa, in northwest Sardinia. The number of visitors is limited to 1,500. In addition, tourists must pay admission from June 1st to August 31st. An adult ticket costs 3.50 euros. Access to the beach is free for children up to 12 years old. A maximum of four places per person can be reserved on the beach website.
If you got to the beach, then you can not just lie down and relax, but you should pay attention to some things so that the vacation does not turn out to be more expensive than originally planned.
Bag ban – Croatian holiday resort has new rules >>>
First, what should be a rule is prohibited: leaving trash behind. It is also not allowed to smoke, nor to use shampoo or soap. It is also strictly forbidden in Sardinia to carry shells, stones or sand with you. Anyone who dares to do so – knowingly or unknowingly – must expect a fine of up to 3,000 euros.
Ban on towels and 100 euros
That’s not enough for the mayor of Stintino Rita Vallebella. As the white sand, which at this point provides the particularly intense glow of the sea, is disappearing more and more, no towel can be spread directly over it. When wet, the fine sand stuck to it. Bast mats, which must be placed between the towel and the sand since 2019, can help.
In addition, the sand must be washed off the feet before leaving the beach. Anyone who forgets to do so should expect a fine of up to €100 from the inspectors who constantly patrol.
Relatively unknown! This is the most beautiful beach in the world
