Jada Pinkett Smith says her marriage to Will Smith was saved by his famous slap at the Oscars.

The Matrix Reloaded actress addressed the 2022 incident in which her husband Chris Rock punched him in the face after the Oscars host joked that Jada Pinkett Smith's hair had alopecia. “After all these years of trying to know if I was going to leave Will, I needed that slap in the face to understand that I would never leave him,” the star shared in an interview with You magazine. Who knows what our relationship would be like if that hadn’t happened?”
“I now call it the 'holy slap' because there were so many positive things afterward,” the 52-year-old actress explained. “The moment when everything falls apart is when you see where you really are,” she added, while also revealing that she was “lucky” to have attended the event. “I almost didn't go to the Oscars this year, but I'm glad I did,” she said.
