Actress Jada Pinkett Smith said, that Chris Rock she asked amid rumors of her breakup with her boyfriend Will Smith. The episode is recounted in the book Worthy, which will be published on October 17th.
During a conversation with the American magazine People on the 13th of this month, the actress spoke about the incident:
“Every summer there were reports that Will and I were getting divorced. And this special summer [de 2016], Chris thought we were getting a divorce. So he called me and basically said, “I’d like to spend time with you.” And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’. He said, “Well, aren’t you and Will getting divorced?” ‘NO. Chris, these are just rumors.’ He was shocked. And he apologized profusely and that was that.
O The misunderstanding happened years before the incident where Will Smith attacked Cris Rock during the Oscarswhich took place in 2022.

A day later, Will Smith issued a statement apologizing to Rock and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization that awards the Oscars. The Academy banned Smith from attending the Oscars for ten years.
Regarding aggression, Jada said:
“[Eu tenho] Would you like to talk to Chris? Here is my wish: I just hope that all misunderstandings surrounding this issue can be cleared up and that there can be peace,” he added.
The actress believes there was a mixup between her and Chris. In 2016, the actor also hosted the Oscars and there were protests over the absence of black people at the ceremony.

“I think he may have been offended and I had no intention of offending him. That wasn’t my intention,” the actress told People magazine.
