Another Boeing model, the 737 Max, was grounded worldwide for 20 months after two accidents occurred within five months that killed 346 people. In October 2018, a model of the aircraft purchased by Lion Air crashed in Indonesia for no apparent reason. Five months later, another 737 Max, now operated by the Ethiopian airline, crashed in Ethiopia.
