Defenseman Jason Demers was released from his pro tryout by the Edmonton Oilers Monday, but he may well remain with the Alberta organization in the AHL after reportedly accepting a pro tryout with the Bakersfield Condors.

At least that’s what several media reported, including the Daily Faceoff site on Tuesday.
The Quebecer was also on the ice for Oilers practice on Tuesday, despite being released the day before.
At 34, Demers is trying to return to the National League. He took a season off to play for Ak-Bars Kazan in the Continental League, where he scored a point in five games.
In his final season at Bettman Circuit, the Dorval native played 41 games with the Arizona Coyotes, scoring four goals. Best known for his defensive play, he finished the year with 30 blocks and 69 hits while maintaining an average playing time of 17:14 per game.
During his career, Demers appeared in 699 encounters with the San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers and Coyotes, averaging 214 points.
