A woman who has claimed she has an illegitimate son with world-famous rapper Jay-Z, in a signed affidavit, disclosed confidential details about her alleged affair and described the series of events leading up to what she said was the conception of her child.
Wanda Satterthwaite, who passed away in 2019, insisted until her death that Jay-Z — real name Shawn Corey Carter — is the father of her son Rymir, who is now 30, and she fought to her last days not to let it The rapper will take a paternity test to prove her child’s parentage once and for all.
Now, for the first time, Rymir is sharing his mother’s own memories of the night she allegedly had sex with Jay-Z, revealing to the affidavit in which she shared her memories of that night in 19992.
In the document, dated February 25, 2015, Rymir’s ailing mother claims that she and Jay-Z met through a mutual friend, that they spent a night together at the rapper’s aunt’s apartment in Brooklyn – and worst of all, they also had “protected sex” but that the “protection was broken.”
Jay-Z’s lawyers have repeatedly denied the claims of everyone involved, including Wanda, Rymir and Rymir’s godmother, Lillie Collie, who gave Wanda custody when she became seriously ill and unable to care for their son.
Wanda Satterthwaite claimed she had an illicit encounter with Jay-Z in 1992 – and that the now 53-year-old rapper was the father of her son Rymir (seen together)
In a signed 2015 affidavit shared with by her son Wanda – who died months later – she claimed she met Jay-Z in Philadelphia and claims he used the name “Rock” while she referred to herself as “Carmel” or “Precious”
In her affidavit, Wanda claims her son Rymir (left) was conceived that night and claims she had “protected sex” with Jay-Z (pictured right in 2015) but the “protection was broken.” .
At the time of her alleged encounter with the rapper, Wanda said Jay-Z went by the street name “Rock,” a precursor to his billionaire company Roc Nation.
Jay-Z didn’t know her as Wanda, she claims, and states in the affidavit that she was known by the aliases “Carmel” and “Precious.” When she met Jay-Z in 1992, Wanda was 16 and in high school. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Jay-Z was 22 years old.
Wanda further claimed that the only person who knew of the alleged encounter was her friend Kaleesha Allen, who signed the affidavit as an eyewitness.
“Affidavit of Relationship between Wanda Satterthwaite and Shawn Carter,” begins the document, which was signed by a New Jersey state notary on February 25, 2015.
“I, Wanda Satterthwaite, am writing these allegations about my relationship with Shawn C. Carter. I met Shawn Corey Carter in the fall of 1992 and he identified himself as “Rock” through my eyewitness friend Kaleesha Allen.
‘Mister. Carter and a friend came to Philadelphia to pick me and Kaleesha up at the 24th and Bolton St. area of Philadelphia.
“I called myself Carmel or Precious. Kaleesha rode in the front of the car with Shawn’s girlfriend while Wanda aka Carmel/Precious rode in the back with Shawn.
“The driver was driving what appeared to be an Eldorado car that was gold/yellow.” “We were taken back to Shawn’s aunts’ home in Brooklyn Projects in New York.”
Wanda (seen alone on the left and with Rymir on the right) claims that Jay-Z didn’t know her by her real name, and states in the affidavit that she went by the aliases “Carmel” and “Precious”.
In the affidavit, she further alleges that Jay-Z was “wearing a black Woolrich hooded jacket” at the time Wanda (seen with a friend) said she met him.
Wanda’s affidavit continues with a description of the building they allegedly entered.
“The building had an elevator with gates and mirrors inside,” she wrote. “I’m not sure what floor it was on but the apartment had two bedrooms and the bedrooms were to the left as you entered the apartment.”
She states that the group “talked, drank and danced” before her “girlfriend went in the room with Shawn’s friend and I went with Shawn.” [to the other room]’.
Wanda goes on to describe the outfit she believes Jay-Z wore: “Shawn wore a black Woolrich hooded jacket and hat and his hair was in a little Afro but when we left his aunt’s house he pulled.” a black leather ‘jacket.’
She claims that she and Jay-Z took protective measures when they supposedly met, but that protective measures have been broken.
“Shawn and I did have protected sex, but the protection broke down,” Wanda wrote.
The affidavit went on to say that Wanda alleges that Jay-Z and his boyfriend — who was not named in the document — “returned to see her and Kaleesha two weeks later,” but that Kaleesha was at the time wasn’t there because she had “problems with work” at home’.
“Shawn asked me to go with him but I told him I couldn’t because my mom would be upset,” she wrote. “I didn’t see him again until a year later on TV, but I didn’t find out his real name until later and didn’t know how to contact him.”
The document, which Wanda’s son Rymir gave , was signed by his late mother and Kaleesha, the woman she said was with her at the Brooklyn apartment.
Rymir and Lillie have been fighting to prove Jay-Z is his father since he was 21. In February, Rymir filed a new application with the New Jersey Supreme Court. He asked the court to unseal years-old documents dating back to 2012. He argued that disclosing these documents prevented him from seeking justice.
Rymir (seen in a recent selfie) was told by Wanda that Jay-Z was his father when he was eight years old. He recently told , “I won’t stop fighting until I win.” And I will win
Rymir (wearing a t-shirt to honor his late mother and to champion his case) wants years of court documents unsealed so the public can have access to the case
The Supreme Court denied his new motion, which has 29 pages highlighting specific points throughout the case. The court found that it had no authority to reopen the case before the Court of Appeals or to unseal files before the trial court.
Rymir then submitted an application to the Appeals Department, which was denied on 8 May. He says he will now appeal to the district court.
Speaking to about the case last week, Rymir said: “I will not stop fighting for this until I win.” And I will win because the law is on our side. This will not be over until justice is done.”
“I just want to live my life and in the end I hope Jay-Z wants to be a part of my life if that’s God’s will.”
Wanda claims she had sex with Jay-Z in 1992 and the rapper was a far cry from the global icon he is today. It was four years before the release of his debut studio album, Reasonable Doubt, in 1996.
At the time of their rendezvous, Wanda was in an on-going relationship with her high school friend Robert Graves.
However, she says it was her alleged one-night stand with Jay-Z – which she kept secret from Robert – that gave birth to her son Rymir.
When Wanda gave birth to Rymir in July 1993, Robert was at her side in the hospital and signed Rymir’s birth certificate as his birth father.
A family insider says Wanda knew early on that Robert wasn’t Rymir’s real father when he looked nothing like him. Rymir says Wanda told him Jay-Z was his biological father when he was eight years old.
It wasn’t until 2010 that the issue of paternity became an issue when Wanda’s heart condition, which was the result of untreated scarlet fever when she was two years old, became an issue.
When Wanda met Jay-Z, he was just a regular guy. By the time she began pleading for a paternity test, he was a mega-superstar and married his wife Beyoncé in 2008.
Wanda was certain that she only had sex with two men when she became pregnant in 1992. The two men were Robert and Jay-Z.
She filed papers with a Pennsylvania court to have both men take a paternity test to determine who the real father of their son was.
When the court issued an order, Robert agreed to undergo a genetic test – proving once again that he and Rymir had no biological relationship.
Wanda (pictured with Rymir exiting a courthouse following a paternity trial in February 2015) died of heart failure in 2019 at the age of 43
Rymir (in a 2022 selfie) told his YouTube followers last year, “I will not let anyone put this on my name, my mother’s name or my godmother’s name.” We will fight for what is right is.
Robert’s name was removed from Rymir’s birth certificate by the court and has been blank ever since.
In 2011, Wanda gave custody of her son to Rymir’s godmother, Lillie, who has been fighting for Rymir ever since. Lillie told : “I was just trying to help my goddaughter’s child have a relationship with his father.”
Lillie shared how Rymir was forced to accept the fact that his mum was dying at the time, adding: “It was so hard for him because he got separated from his mum and didn’t have anyone to call dad could.”
That same year, multiple reports surfaced claiming Jay-Z had fathered another son with a Trinidadian model, Shennelle Scott — claiming the rapper’s team were quickly dismissed as “ridiculous rumors.”
In 2012, Lillie and Rymir began taking legal action against Jay-Z – a battle that has now lasted more than a decade and has seen the pair locked in endless legal battles with the rapper’s attorneys.
Rymir insists Jay-Z’s lawyers tried to subvert the system so her client didn’t have to take a paternity test, which Rymir believes would end the case once and for all.
Documentation on each court case accompanies Rymir’s new filing – viewed by – which details how the case began with a pretrial in Camden County, New Jersey on August 13, 2012.
During the pretrial, Jay-Z’s legal team argued that the New Jersey court had “no jurisdiction” over the case because it was originally filed by his mother, Wanda, in Pennsylvania.
Therefore, Jay-Z’s attorney said that the case should be dismissed immediately because Rymir was over 18 at the time of the pre-trial. Pennsylvania law states that paternity must be established before a child reaches adulthood.
However, the court disagreed, stating that the case should be decided under New Jersey law, which sets the age of descent at 23.
Jay-Z’s attorneys argued that he should be exempted from having a DNA test performed in New Jersey because he did not live in the state or own property there, despite several news articles linking him to homes in Alpine and Newport brought.
“My client has no contacts in New Jersey.” He doesn’t own any apartments. He doesn’t own anything in Alpine. He doesn’t own anything in Newport. I don’t know why this information is out there. “It’s on the internet,” his attorney told the court.
Based on this reasoning, the judge dismissed the case.
Rymir’s attorneys immediately appealed the verdict, insisting they had evidence in the form of three title deeds and tax records proving that Jay-Z owned multiple properties in New Jersey and that his attorney had therefore committed “fraud,” by claiming otherwise in court.
obtained court transcripts dated August 13, 2012, in which Jay-Z’s attorney, Lise Fisher, told the court that he “didn’t reside” in New Jersey, meaning the state had no authority to require him to take the paternity test
Lillie presented those documents to the court to prove that Jay-Z owned property in New Jersey, which would give the court jurisdiction to require DNA testing. However, the court ruled in favor of Jay-Z
The civil rights group NAACP has sent several letters to the New Jersey state legislature calling for Rymir to be given due process
Jay-Z and Beyoncé (at the 2015 Grammy Awards) have never spoken publicly about the case. In a letter to , the rapper’s lawyer denied Rymir and Wanda’s claims
has included the court transcripts as well as the deeds provided by Rymir in this article.
For some of the lots, Jay-Z is still listed as the owner under his real name, Shawn Corey Carter. In addition, several of his immediate family members are also listed.
Rymir and his legal team submitted the warrants as evidence in their appeal and the case was reopened on December 12, 2012.
During a hearing at that trial, Jay-Z’s attorney found that she “misstated” where he actually lived — telling the court that the rapper resided at 411 Broadway in New York City, which is actually his Official seat is Label Roc Nation.
“I made a mistake at the last hearing because I genuinely thought Broadway was his home address,” Fisher explained.
However, the case was still dismissed after the rapper’s attorney determined that Rymir and Lillie could not prove that the “Shawn Corey Carter” listed on the deeds was actually their client and not another person with the same name.
“Plaintiff’s motion for genetic testing and assistance is dismissed without prejudice for lack of subject matter jurisdiction and lack of personal jurisdiction over defendant Shawn Corey Carter,” the court ruled.
In December 2014, Rymir filed a civil lawsuit against Jay-Z and his attorney, in which the rapper’s legal team made the same argument they used at the 2012-2013 hearing — that he didn’t own any property in New Jersey and could therefore not be subject to any paternity judgment in the state.
Again, the court ruled in favor of Jay-Z and dismissed the case.
So far, the entire case has been sealed off by the court, preventing the public from accessing the case files. Rymir will stop at nothing to unseal the documents.
Many of these documents are already publicly available online on a website created by Rymir.
Rymir will continue to fight for his right to due process – for himself, for those who supported him and especially for his mother Wanda. In 2016, Rymir’s bedridden mother spoke out on the case again.
“My name is Wanda Satterthwaite and I am Rymir Satterthwaite’s mother,” she explained in a video shared with RadarOnline.
“Today is April 20, 2016 and I want the world to know that I am supporting my son in his paternity trial with Shawn Corey Carter.’ I stand by my claims to this man.’
In 2015, Rymir sued Jay-Z for civil damages, claiming the rapper prevented him from reaching closure.
In 2017, Rymir and Lillie filed a civil rights complaint with Judge Glenn A. Grant for violations that included failure to follow standard court service procedures based on gender, class, and retaliation.
They also filed civil rights complaints with the New Jersey Attorney General, the New Jersey Governor, various New Jersey Senators, and the New Jersey Judicial Conduct Board.
They repeated civil rights violation complaints against the same parties in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. All of those lawsuits were dismissed.
In a 2022 YouTube video, Rymir made his feelings about the case clear, telling the world, “I don’t feel that our rights are being honored.” There’s a lot of fraud and collusion going on. I won’t allow that.
“We’re putting our hard-earned money there to fight fraud.” The judges allow it. Someone above them should be held responsible.
“I just want everyone to keep their eyes peeled.” We should never walk into a courtroom feeling like a victim. We were kicked and tried to be dragged through the system.
“I will not allow anyone to put this on my name, my mother’s name or my godmother’s name.” “We will fight for what is right, as we have done all these years,” Rymir said in the video.
Jay-Z has never spoken publicly about the case. He vaguely addressed the allegations in his 2018 album with Beyoncé, titled The Carters: You Heard About Us.
The lyrics to the song read, “Billie Jean in his prime.” For the thousandth time, the child is not mine. On the internet they jokingly call me dad. “You shouldn’t take this papa thing literally.”
