“Wandinha” entered the Netflix catalogue, broke records and made history. Several curiosities about the production emerge, including the first meeting between protagonist Jenna Ortega and acclaimed director Tim Burton. According to the actress, her odd choice of makeup broke the ice during her audition with the filmmaker.
Jenna Ortega revealed to fans in an interview with Wired (via Collider) what her first Zoom meeting with the director of Wandinha looked like. In answering one of “the internet’s most searched questions” about the fate of her character Lorraine in “X: The Mark of Death,” the actress said she still wears her makeup and prosthetics from the scene where she was shot became the head when he first auditioned for the Netflix production with Burton.
What could have gone wrong with another filmmaker ultimately impressed Burton somewhat, as Ortega said he found her looks charming. “It was funny because when I met Tim Burton I had just done my death scene, I had stage blood and glycerine sweat in my hair and a huge cut on my face and I was up 24+ hours. I got on Zoom and he actually laughed. It made me laugh. I found it captivating,” recalls the actress.
