Then the moderator and editorinchief of Jornal Nacional William Bonner said that polls by the institutes Ipec and Datafolha had shown former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) a lead in voting intentions, contradicting the fake video that President Jair Bolsonaro (PL ) leads.

“From August 15 to date, Ipec and Datafolha polls presented here in JN showed PT candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as the one with the highest percentage of voting intentions. In all of them, Bolsonaro appeared in 2nd place,” he said.

The fake video began circulating on Bolsonaro supporters’ social networks.

In a critical tone, Bonner noted that the dissemination of the images “coincided with candidate Bolsonaro’s public statements in which he despises the election polls conducted by the Ipec and Datafolha institutes and claims without any factual basis that any result in the polls other than his victory in the 1st round means something wrong will have happened in the TSE. Raising suspicions about the electoral justice system is an affront to Brazilian democracy and must be denounced.”
