Why did MC Bin Laden choose this name?
Early in his career, when he was still looking for success, he called himself MC JK and went to audition to join a production company. “I was the last one to sing and without clothes. I smoked several and at the time I watched a documentary and made the song. We looked up a few names like 'Kabum', 'Bola 7', 'Bola 8', Grenada, a lot of things. But the guys said they should get Bin Laden involved. “It's too crazy, it suits him. “I wanted MC and it was: MC Bin Laden,” he said.

The funk singer has already had problems getting a visa to the USA because his stage name mentions that of Osama Bin Laden. But at the beginning of his career, he had no idea that this could be a stumbling block in some situations. “I thought it was going to explode right on my block. I didn't think the business would get this big. I said, 'Nothing will happen'. I didn't have much of a clue. We are young, full of dreams. It was about making us sing on stage,” he recalled, saying that he had a different vision today: “If I knew… I could change.”
In 2018, the boy commented on the issue via his Facebook profile: “I have already been judged based on the stage name I have today. Many imagine that the name 'MC Bin Laden' was intended to honor a terrorist. I could never have imagined the size of it and the success it would have. The intention was just to have a hit in the funk, in the neighborhood, with some heavy songs that I've done in the past. It was a name that made an impression and attracted attention. “Never to pay homage or make an impact. There are no comparisons to anything like that,” he explained.
What is MC Bin Laden's real name?
MC Bin Laden's birth certificate lists him as Jefferson Cristian dos Santos Lima. As for the artistic aspect, he wants to change it in 2024.
“Today I want to change my name. There are people who ask me if I'm happy with the name 'MC Bin Laden', and no. Really, I'm not. Because they understand the name I bear. I wish I had changed it in 2018 and 2019, but I had some problems and struggled with depression. I believe I will change at the right time,” he said last November as he prepared to perform at Primavera Sound 2023.
