With the election of Javier Milei as Argentina’s new president this Sunday (19), a question that has been discussed since the election campaign remains open: who will be the country’s first lady?

The new Argentine head of state has a stable relationship with Argentine comedian Fátima Flórez. But despite claiming to be in love, Milei’s girlfriend has already stated in recent interviews that she is not giving up her career and has no plans to take on political roles in the government.

Meanwhile, the president’s sister, Karina, has been seen as one of his campaign’s key strategists since the start of the campaign and is expected to take a prominent role in Milei’s government. Still, the politician made it clear in recent comments that he was the one who would lead the government and gave no details about what role his sister might play after the election.

However, both Flórez and Milei will play important roles during the president’s term, as they are the female characters closest to him. Find out more about her below:

Karina Milei, 51, is the president’s younger sister and was his campaign manager. According to Argentine media, she is known as “The Boss” and is the only one capable of calming her brother in moments of tension.

In 2022, Milei even stated in an interview with the broadcaster LN+ that Karina would take on the role of First Lady if she won.

“I think I would play the role of first lady. Neither as chief of staff nor as secretary of the presidential office. If you ask me about the last two, I don’t think they fit [com ela]” he said at the time.

Recently, however, Karina’s role in Milei’s government has become less clear, especially after he began his relationship with Flórez and after her sister appeared in the media several times as the “head” of the new president’s list of candidates.

Karina graduated from the Argentine University of Economics (Uade) with a degree in public relations and also studied confectionery and handicrafts. Before taking on the role in her brother’s campaign, she was responsible for managing Milei’s assets and schedule.

In an interview with broadcaster América, Flórez stated that she did not like the position of first lady. “It doesn’t occur to me to think about this first ladies thing,” he said. “It seems silly between us.” Serious.”

But since the relationship between Flórez and Milei became public in August 2023, many of the new president’s voters have treated her like a first lady.
