Kate Middleton has been the focus of enormous press attention since she began dating Prince William, whom she met at St. Andrews University in 2001.

She met William while studying art history at St Andrews in Fife, where they lived in student accommodation for years.

Their relationship apparently blossomed on weekends alone at the Queen's country estate at Balmoral.

At least for a time, William and Kate were able to enjoy some privacy because the palace had an agreement with the press during his time as a student.

But the media's silence didn't last, and Kate came to public attention when several tabloids published a photo of her next to Princes William and Charles at the Klosters ski resortin the year 2005.

The photos were released despite royal family advisers' efforts to keep the vacation private.

Interest in newspapers increased when Kate graduated and moved to London.

Today the couple has three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
