Miami-Dade authorities accused a man of having sex with a minor kendall ice arena, an ice sports center in the district of The Hammocks.
Police on Wednesday arrested 27-year-old Ángel Eduardo Díaz for sexually assaulting and assaulting a 13-year-old girl he met at the facility where he still works.
The events reportedly happened on October 4, 2020, when both were having sex in a small room of the store.
The teenager, now 15, told officials that they previously went to the store’s roof and kissed and that they later sent several text messages to continue their relationship.
When questioned by police, Diaz, then 24, denied all the facts, even after being shown the exchange with the victim over the phone.
According to legal documents obtained by CBS, a friend of the girl saw the two kiss on the mouth once and then hug.
Angel was arrested, charged, and taken to Miami-Dade’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
He appeared in court Thursday charged with lewd and lewd assault on a 12- to 16-year-old boy, lewd and lewd sexual abuse of a child and lewd and lewd conduct towards a child.
The judge set bail at $22,500.
It also ordered him to remain at least 500 feet away from the victim with no direct or indirect contact in person or in writing, by telephone or through a third party, or through social media or other electronic means.
Some guests at Kendall Ice Arena have expressed concern about the allegations.
Police say it is not known if there are other victims.
Detectives asked anyone with information about the case to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
